American Legion Ira Weaver Post 121, Blairsville, GA.  We are an enthusiastic Post participating in District 9 of the Department of Georgia.

We have much to offer new and prospective members of the Legion Family.  In addition to regular American Legion membership, we offer memberships in the American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and the Legion Riders.  Regular American Legion Members are also eligible for membership in the North Georgia Honor Guard which is very active in the Blairsville Area. Each organization has its own membership criteria and qualifying dual memberships are always welcome and encouraged.

Post 121 is a firm believer in “Veterans still serving America” and helping other Veterans. We have our own post Scholarship program. We have adapted many of our activities to accommodate concerns about COVID-19 and thankfully more opportunities to serve Veterans and the community are emerging.

We plan to continue participation in many local festivals and parades, and we are anxiously awaiting restarting the visitation program for Veterans residing in local nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. We also support the Missing In America Project, Wreaths Across America, 100 Miles For Hope and have several members serving in the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The post looks forward to again hosting social events throughout the year including a Veterans Day Celebration and Lunch, a golf tournament, our Christmas Party and fund-raising cookouts.   The officers and membership are always receptive to new ideas to build membership and serve our Veterans and foster the spirit of comradery and community.

If you are a Veteran interested in joining the American Legion Family,
just visiting or a returning member we are pleased to have you here.
